Once again Hazel and Louise were our hosts for another house party with a difference. This time the twist was that guests were put into pairs and asked to bring along a couple of bottles of wine and a cheese of choice. And what a wondrous variety there was too, including the Stinking Bishop and some Blue Goats - but that's enough about the guest list, some of the cheeses were quite unusual as well (boom boom!). There was also a collection of fine wines for our connoisseurs to offer their considered options upon. For example, my contribution of a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was eloquently described as "cats pissing on grapefruit" by Mr Bracchi, which just about set the tone for the rest of the evening!
Being an al fresco party in July it started to feel a bit chilly by 9pm. While most people reached for more alcohol to keep the cold at bay, others reached for the fleeces and blankets that were being distributed like a minor Red Cross relief effort, but eventually even the hardiest of souls had retreated indoors. Now, when it comes to wine, I personally believe in quantity over quality, which probably helps to explain some of my ensuing dance moves. Fortunately I was not alone in this tomfoolery, so I think I got away with it?! Either way, a good time was had by all so thank you to Hazel and Louise for another great evening.
