We all managed to arrive at the spectacular setting of Castle Howard, complete with chairs, tables, food and drink (and umbrellas). Having assembled our group we laid out a fine spread of food and tucked in waiting for the music to start. Whilst there was an odd spot of rain at the start it all cleared for a spectacular aerial display by an original WW2 Spitfire to classical pieces of music including the Battle of Britain. We were kept further entertained by orchestral pieces such as film themes from Indiana Jones and James Bond, as well as the usual Last Night of the Proms classics of Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory amongst others. These were accompanied by lots of patriotic flag waving and amazing firework displays. A good musical evening was had by all! Thanks to Gary and Heidi for organising a great evening.
