Event review

Coastival

This event was one of the more unusual out of town IVC events and as so it was hoped would attract a fair bit of interest. It did not disappoint in this area, with a total of nearly 10 IVCs travelling to Scarborough by train and car.

The event was an art and music exhibition covering aspects of Scarborough life. Unfortunately, when we arrived and obtained a guide it soon became clear that the exhibitions were spread far and wide around Scarborough and it would not be possible to see them all. So the first thing we did was to find a eating place, to discuss the day, after all it was 1oclock. Fish and Chips and mushy peas of course, although whether they were caught in Scarborough Bay I dont know !

After this we had to split into two groups as some people wanted to see different events. Group 1 opted to go to the Spa Complex where there was a music event, Group 2 wanted to go to Peas home where there was a more open air feeling and a magic lantern show. This was a video display of Scarborough in Winter.

The music event went down well, and some of the bands on show were Ross McEwan from Inverness with a 3 piece band, also recording an album, a ginger fellow called Louis something, who complained of lost love (dont we all sometimes!) and a young David Tennant look-alike man, who sounded a bit like Damien Rice. A good piece of entertainment judging by the length of time IVCs stopped to listen to the music. Of course there was a reasonable bar, could that have anything to do with sustaining the afternoon? I dont know, you decide !

All in all a good day out, if a little brisk from the February weather, and Im sure the sea air it will have cleared some members lungs on that day.

Thanks to Claire and Helen for organising the event.
