Summer Party

O, weve all been there accidentally nodding off during some important meeting only to be nudged by a colleague and find youve volunteered yourself for the worse job in the world.

Well, that is what happened to me a few months ago when we started to plan the summer party. Ok admittedly, I was actually more of a willing volunteer; the Bar Manager role was right up my street (as many of you know)! But as the planning came into its final stages, the importance of my role suddenly dawned on me if I messed up and the drinks ran dry then 100 angry IVCers would be after my blood. Luckily, ASDA delivered in time and with John as my trusty lemon slicer, we were on track for a good night.

As the first minibus of party go-ers turned up we were ready to keep them happy and the fun begun.

I had a whale of a time serving behind the bar but was pleased when the first wave of volunteers came to take over. With the party in full swing, I could relax and enjoy it with the rest of the revellers. Yet again, the BBQ was spot on thanks to Paul and his assistants and Ginny and Ben gave the buffet a fab personal touch with all the homemade side dishes. I ended up doing most of my dancing behind the bar but the DJ play some great tunes to keep the dance floor full up til 2am. All in all, a great night was had by all.
