Beer certainly must be popular amongst York IVC members because the York Beer Festival 2006 must have been one the best attended events I've seen in a while. The Priory Street Centre is where I sometimes go to sit exams, being a place you can hire from the Council, but tonight there were barrels of beer everywhere, not to mention cider and perry and, for those of a different persuasion, fruit wine. Going on the Friday meant that pretty much everything was "on" and all the labels were facing forward. So having bought our special glasses, we headed to the volunteer-staffed bar. Here service was rapid and with enthusiasm. It was the adult equivalent of putting kids in a sweet shop with the chance to sample some exotic brews you don't often find. All in all the event was an excellent chance to bump into and chat to fellow members in a congenial atmosphere. If you missed out this time then there's always next year as it's become a regular thing. Many thanks to Louise and Dave for organising the event.
