This was the first weekend away that Id been on since joining IVC, and it definitely won't be the last.
We spent the weekend based in a Youth Hostel in Buttermere, near Keswick. My brand new rucksack and waterproofs were put to good use, as we all made it all the way to the top of Scarfell Pike in the torrential rain (highest mountain in England.....just a walk in the park really!)
Our intrepid leader Richard knows the Lake District inside out, so we were in safe hands. He led us up hills, down hills, over water, and even let us stop occasionally for jelly babies!
On the Saturday evening, we had a great meal and a few drinks in the local pubs, then a few of us ventured up another mountain the following day. Seemed like a good idea at the time - think we've all just about recovered now!
Many thanks to Richard for organising a cracking weekend - we look forward to the next one.
