The first wall of drink of this summer was kicked off as usual in the Rook and Gaskill - we had the place to ourselves! Unfortunately, on this occasion I was not able to drink due to fight commitments, so I probably have a slightly different view of the day than others, but lets face it, if you can't over indulge on the mighty wall when can you?
After much mockery about the size of my handbag (for an English summer you must prepare for all eventualities) we progressed around the wall. Stopping for lunch at the Masons Arms we were greeted by York IVCs youngest member; at 6 weeks old little Lucy Williams stole the show. After an hour of gurgling and cooing the baby grew tired of our childish ways and made her protest known by breaking wind, forcing her embarrassed parents to leave!
After this the day got progressively messier more people joined us, speeding up the rate of the drinking by refreshing the pace. We made it to the Black Swan before the walls closed and filled an otherwise quiet pub with a load of drunken IVCers (too numerous to mention names, but I think G still cringes when he walks past... If he doesnt than he should.... and you Suz for encouraging him!)
Another successful WoD next one to follow VERY soon - watch this space.
