Luckily the sun shone for our bike ride out to Beningborough along cycle route 65. The countryside around York is at its most difficult undulating and this made for rapid progress to our goal, the superb local pub in Newton-on-Ouse. We didn't visit the Hall but did try and discover Beningborough itself on the way back and went right through it without realising it - it's just a small hamlet. Undeterred, we returned for a nice cup of tea at Martin's house. All in all an excellent and very healthy day out.
