Chocolate Tasting Workshop

I felt I couldn't let the York Food and Drink Festival go by without telling everyone in IVC what great events I have attended.
The festival is in its 11th year. There were some new events this time which were short tasting events. Alison kindly arranged the chocolate tasting. We met at Melton Too and had a short talk on where cocoa beans grow and how chocolate is produced. We then got doown to the serious business of tasting, the smell, how it snapped , did it feel smooth on the tongue, did the taste last.We had a great time tasting six chocolates with a friendly crowd. Next day to Louise's event on Cheese tasting again at Melton's Too and a very knowlegeable lady told us what to look for when choosing a good cheese. Then tasting 5 cheeses. They were supherb in taste and texture. On Tuesday went to Rab's event of Port Tasting in the Chapter House in York Minster. It's a fantastic room to hold such an event as it has a beatiful tiled floor and wonderful ceiling. I tried several ports and towards the end of the evening had lost track of the ones I really liked. Good job and made some notes!!What better way to spend an evening chatting and drinking in a great room. Then on to Thursday night to meet the retailers, this is where things got a bit hazy towards the end but needless to say I tried several excellent wines from several major retailers in the area in the Guildhall. It was a terrific night. I would just like to say a big Thank You to Rab, Louise and Alison for organising the events as I had a great week. Must remmeber to book Annual Leave for next years festival...
