You can contact the Membership Secretary by telephoning 0701 702 2482 to discuss a trial membership period. Alternatively you can fill in the form below and the Membership Secretary will contact you.
You must supply us with a name, address and phone number so that we can send you our events bulletin by post and contact you by phone. You must also complete the personal details section.
The membership secretary will then arrange to send you copies of the York IVC bulletin by post detailing our events for three months as well as an application form for full membership. The first month or part month is free and you can attend any event listed in the bulletin see note below. The remainder of the trial costs £5 for single members and £8 for couples.
During this time you should obtain signatures at three different events from committee members (or event hosts if no committee member attends the event) and then you are ready to apply for membership. Simply send off your form and cheque (payable to York IVC) to the membership secretary.
When your trial period ends you may decide the club is not for you but if you're not sure you may extend your trial period for a further two months by paying £5 for single members and £8 for couples. During the extended trial you will continue to receive bulletins in the post. At the end of your first or second trial period you may apply for full membership by submitting your application and membership cheque.
The committee will consider your application and most applications are successful. However the York IVC Committee reserves the right to refuse any membership application without being required to offer an explanation for such refusal. In the event of refusal of membership, any membership monies or cheques submitted will be returned to the sender.
It's that easy and the fun begins!
Note: a small number of events are held at members' homes and for these the host can decide not to allow potential members to attend so please contact the host first. We have this rule to protect our existing membership. Other than this the Club requires that all events be open to all members and potential members, except where numbers are limited and all places are taken or a deadline set by the host has been missed.
Once you become a member you will be expected to organise a minimum of two events per year, either on your own or with another member and the details be included in the monthly bulletin. Some members act as meeters and greeters alongside a committee member at our regular club nights and this can be counted towards this as well. Talk to the events co-ordinator to find out more.
The club is run for our members by our members, therefore organising events contributes to the club's success and the more you more you put in, the more you get out!
There is also an email membership list that you can subscribe to once you join the club. This enables you to find out about last minute events and goings on! You will also be able to access the members' area of the web site.
To attend an event, contact the host for details - as detailed in the bulletin.
We appreciate attending an event for the very first time may be a bit daunting. That's why we organise two club nights (pub nights) and a club lunch a month, which are great places to start as these attract a number of new faces. There are also a couple of members who are available to meet new faces outside the venue if you wish - just contact the host. However, you don't need to wait for a club night, as you can attend any event at any time to suit you!
For events that require pre-booking or transport arrangements please give the hosts plenty of notice. That way, if you are a bit late or are meeting in a busy place, they know to look out for you and you won't be disappointed.
