Our roots

York IVC is a well established, successful social club which has been running since 1998. The club was founded by Katrina Bracchi (nee Ellis) and a few friends in York.

The club has grown consistently over the years and now has over 140 members.

Our members span a wide age range from early 20s through to early 40s, combining a mix of singles and couples.

We are a non-profit making organisation with no political, racial or religious affiliations.

IVC stands for Inter Varsity Club. It is a social club for graduates and professionals. The first IVC was founded in 1947 by a group of Cambridge undergraduates who wanted to continue socialising during the holidays and after leaving university. Since then IVC groups have sprung up in most major cities in the UK and there are around 50 branches today! These all belong to an association - the AIVC. Membership of any one club entitles you to attend the events in another area as a visitor. Contact the ALO Officer if you're travelling to other areas.
